Havana Photowalk: Random Encounters
It isn’t difficult to find interesting subjects to capture in such a unique place as Cuba. The streets of Havana are a street photography paradise and it is a challenge to keep the camera down even for a minute. That said, one could easily suffer from photo-burnout if you were to simply blast away at anything that moved. Save some moments for memory. Not everything requires a photograph!
You seem to have traveled and taken great photographs in all the places I dream of going one day! These are fantastic
Thanks! I can’t say enough great things about Cuba. Fantastic and one of my top places to travel. If you have the chance to visit, go for it!
Can I ask, do you travel alone to take photographs? or are you always with a companion?
Sometimes alone while other times with my wife or friends. That said, street photography for me is often a solo activity – a chance for me to engage with the scene.
I ask because I always feel slightly inadequate when I go out on my own to take photo’s.. as if people are watching thinking “what the hell is she doing”!
I wish I had your confidence!
I think most people attempting street photography face this same dilemma at some point. It’s normal. After a while, your confidence will build and you’ll be very comfortable.
If I’m going for a portrait I simply approach and respectfully take the photo or ask them if it’s OK for me to take the shot. As far as a candid images like those above, I just get into position and take the photo. Most encounters have been smooth and if not, I just walk away and avoid confrontation which is always best!
WOW! You are so talented! Your vision through the lens transcends boundaries – phenomenal!
Thanks, much appreciated! Always learning and training my eyes!
