This is Winnipeg!
-30C temperatures for several months? Check
Skin freezing in 5 minutes? Check
Proud of the fact that you actually go outside and enjoy yourself? Check
Good photography weather? Absolutely!
Living through a Winnipeg winter can easily break the unprepared especially if you haven’t had much experience in colder climates. It is typical for Winnipeggers to go on and on about the weather like it’s some sort of battle tale, victory coming after trudging through yet another frigid winter. Of course this is obviously exaggerating reality, but there certainly is something to be said about the toughness of those who choose to live in this city!
There was a nice mix of winter attire being worn yesterday on the streets. A few shots from my lunch hour photo walk.

LOL I can definitely relate and do look like any of these women these days even though we are far from 30 below!! The wind is a killer!!! I often tell people that I look like South Park Kenny in the winter ;-)
The wind is definitely the killer! It can be cold but still tolerable; once you add wind into the mix, it’s just plain nasty!
I promise I won’t start calling you Kenny ;)

This looks like Chicago too! But we only hit that temp if you count windchill. Still too cold! You are a brave soul for going out to shoot in that!
I used to hate taking pictures in the winter! I don’t know what has gotten into me this year :) I’m really surprised my camera hasn’t failed me (maybe I shouldn’t have said anything!).
