Random Candid Moments
A few candid photos from the past couple of days. Lately, I’ve been following some interesting discussions. Does a street photo always need to tell a story? I’ve always stood by the belief that it is up to the viewer to decide if something has a particular meaning to them. Some photos won’t have much of a story, while others can have several.
I feel a street photo can be any number of things; street portraiture, daily routine and slice of life type images, humorous juxtaposition, light and shadow (with human element), decisive moment, etc.
Have a fabulous Friday!
Agree! I think it’s just like with any art, the artist always have her/his own vision/story, but it is up to each viewer to come up with their own. For me, the whole point of art is to inspire :)
This is why I love your blog and your photo work, it’s inspiring. Have a great weekend xox
Your comments are much appreciated! I’m really happy you enjoy these photos! Enjoy your evening and have a wonderful weekend :)
Love these moments in time, Mike. Red hood/red ceiling caught my eye and the looks some of the others are giving you are curious, yet relaxed. Great set.
Thank you Jane! I probably wouldn’t have taken that photo, but when I noticed he had the same colour sweater as the ceiling, I couldn’t resist :)
Good eye! That’s what it’s all about.
Good context, Mike. There always exists the potential to see or create a story in most anything, be it street photo, performing arts, word of a catastrophic moment, being in the presence of serenity, and the list goes on. You’re an accomplished photographer. You capture and choose to share what you see. We, in turn, have the privilege of our own interpretation – if any. Thanks for adding to our experiences.
As always, your comments are filled with encouragement and inspiration! Thank you Eric.
Your subjects are so strong that the story typically jumps off the screen for me.
Love the red properties in the second photo.
Happy Weekend!
Thank you so much! :) I’ve always heard, if you see something red, take a photo of it! haha…not sure if that is true in all cases.
Enjoy the weekend ~ hopefully the weather has improved for you!
Nice shots!
Thank you Rob!
A great set. I like candid shots.
Thank you sir! I like to mix it up with permission asked and candids. The candid shots are always fun to try and get :)
maybe i am in nature more but because of You i like street
haha ~ glad I could be an influence! :) Although I don’t post many nature photos on here, I really love to shoot landscape as well. I’m considering making another website to show my landscapes.
There’s an almost serendipitous sense of an old Abbot and Costello routine here … the note on the advertising flag, the approaching building, the young man trying to look cute.
By the way, I shared your description with a friend of mine at NYU and he agreed with you completely. His words, “Either one gets photos from the street or not.” I do. I always have. Nearly all the framed art in my house are street photographs, though not by e sadly. If you were gay, I’d come to Winnipeg and say “Teach me … everything.” As it is, you’d probably prefer that I bring my beauty sister.
Awesome comment! I appreciate that a lot. Street photography can make such great art for any decor. I’m going to go and get a bunch of mine printed next week (that’s the plan anyway) and do a great gallery-style wall in my living room which should look pretty good. I’ll post it on the blog when I get it all done. Well, I’ve still got a lot to learn myself, though I’m always happy to help out and give my advice – for what it’s worth! Beautiful sister you say!?
Sounds wonderful, Mike … and, yes, my sister, could stop traffic … an has. She’s recently single and unhappy. Her New York Lawyer had about as much time for her as … well, let’s say no time. Yet he expected her to be at everything function, dinner, etc. Weird. She will love your photo, but my psychologist mom has taught us not to judge a book by it’s single cover … you need two or three covers, minimum ;-)
I agree. If in one of my outings I either get to work on my creativity, notice/learn new things or just have fun that’s a win in my book and means something to me. Photography is like life, each moment/shot doesn’t need to be great, it needs to have its up and down, that’s what makes it beautiful
Totally agree with this, Dalia. I like to document humanity. Also, the great joy of street photography is how each photographer approaches it differently. It is really nice to view the vast amounts of images and get inspired by them all.
Und das Auto geht so schnell auf, dass die Pinkelpause ausreicht, um es auszuräumen.
