Winnipeg Street: Mike and Dwayne
I took the first photo candidly as I passed by. Dwayne was a bit surprised and quickly asked why I did that. He was ok with my answer and we had a short discussion afterwards about various topics including the weather, how long he’s lived in Winnipeg and about the photo I took. He liked his off to the side gaze. We shook hands and parted ways shortly after.
The second photo is a very quick shot of Mike who was in a hurry to get to a meeting so I only had enough time to capture one photo. He has a really great look, especially with that hat and beard :) Could be a sailor!
Have a wonderful Saturday!
wonderful images.
i like the term: “he was okay with my answer”. :)
i am always to shy to ask people if i could take a picture of them, but sometimes it is so worth it!
Thank you Martha!
Well, my typical “I’m a street photography, and enjoy meeting people and taking their photo” usually works to put people at ease! I also have business cards printed which gives me a bit more credibility. If you feel the photo is worth taking, just go for it! I know, I know, easier said than done!
Superb street portraits Mike!
Thanks so much, Robyn!
It’s always a pleasure to visit your blog, Mike. So kind faces…
And I have to agree with marthalisek; wonderful images (as usual).
Your work is fantastic, Mike.
Thanks you always, Malin! The encouragement from everyone here helps me get out there and continue pushing forward. Continual learning and growing :)
And I really hope that you will continue doing what you’re doing – because your street portraits are very touching and there’s this honesty in them. Some kind of self portraits through other people, and that’s beautiful. I don’t thing I’m speaking for myself when I say that I see that you really care about the people you photograph.
Have a good day, Mike and take care.
Great street portraits Mike, and your subject in the second photo Mike could pass for a sailer :D
Thank you Joe! He was really great. I only wish I had a bit more time to get a couple more photos :)
So curious what Dwayne is pondering! And Mike looks like a very jolly ol’ salt! Love these, Mike :) hope you had a lovely weekend!
Thank you so much Allison! I think Mike could have easily gotten off of a ship moments before I took this photo! Just needs a pipe and it might have been perfect :) The weekend was pretty good and relaxing, although the snow and cold is starting to get tiresome! Happy Monday to you :)
Excellent :0)
Wonderful photos..

Great portraits. May I ask, what resolution you choose when scanning your films?
