Winnipeg Street: Nazareth and Morley
Two completely random candid moments of two very friendly people! First is Nazareth (unfortunately, the story behind his name is a mystery), a quick portrait as I passed him on the street. Other than getting his name and shaking hands, this encounter was over in an instant! Morley and I chatted for several minutes about photography and the two bouts of cancer that he had beaten. I like the expression he’s giving me in the photo – as he’s not yet sure who the heck I am!
Cheers and have a great evening.
Hard to take my eyes off these!
Thank you! I’m happy you enjoy these photos!
I love the expressions in both faces ~what they are saying and not saying at the same time ~ wonderful photos :)
Thank you! :) It’s always great getting the various expressions from people. Surprise, happiness, uncertainty, etc.
Are you a humans of ny fan?
I’ll be honest, I have never followed his work. I’ve been meaning to check out his site, just haven’t gotten around to it. As a fellow street portraitist, I applaud his efforts though :)
Wow! If you’ve got fb or Instagram I’d really recommend doing so. I also came across his interview technique which I think would be very informative.
I love your street stories…
Beautiful portraits, Mike.
Thank you so much, Malin! Apologies for the late reply.
Priceless expression on the second photo Mike. I’m convinced people are more friendly up there when I look at your street shots :)
For the most part, people are pretty comfortable with being photographed – more so now when confronted by the smaller camera (which most think is film). The tagline for Manitoba is actually “Friendly Manitoba” but this isn’t always the case!! :) Cheers, Joe.
Digging Nazareth’s smile & bandana too!
He was a cool guy! :)
I say Mike, you really know how to make us feel included in every shots that you share with us, I hope and wish Morley to stay healthy :) Beating 2 cancers? that’s a real survivor.
Great shots are usual Mike
He certainly is a survivor and to keep pushing forward is inspiring. Thank you Dalia, and sorry for the late response!
Great shots, Mike. Do you actually engage your subjects? Or shoot them on the fly, so to speak?
Sorry for my late reply, Emilio. I tend to shoot a mix of candid and permission asked portraits. Depends on the person. Also, I enjoy getting stories and talking to people so shooting candid doesn’t always work. Cheers.
