Winnipeg Street: Gord
I took this candid shot of Gord as I walked back to work after lunch. I spotted him standing in this shadowy corner and thought the light was excellent. I was tempted to put the camera into B&W mode, but instead felt the colours would be quite nice. I’m really enjoying shooting with Leica lenses in colour – I find they are really true and have a wonderful quality. Well, I suppose this could just be my eyes seeing what they want to see! :) The two shots below give you all an idea where I go shooting to capture many of my street portraits and other shots. This area is one of the older districts in the city with many historic registered buildings. A great place for wandering about and taking pictures.
Drawn to the middle shot here, Mike. The colors, angles, shadows, lights, reflections — an amalgem that yields alive and vibrant.
Thank you Eric! It was great to be up on the rooftop here, to get a very different perspective on the area. Cheers.
Hello my friend
I agree with the lighting on your first image has made it much more atmospheric.
I would love to shoot here especially using Leica
Much appreciated, Bob! I suppose any camera will do the job and it mostly depends on how we’re using it :)
Enjoy the rest of the week!
You are of course totally correct but oh how I’d love a a Leica!
Speak again soon thank you for stopping by Mike
Bob
Your street portraits are wonderful all the time. Now you showed us the streets where your models live. Beautiful pictures and city.
Thank you Alexander! Much appreciated. Winnipeg certainly has it’s charm and moments!
I am pretty sure. When you love your city and know it well you can show it to anybody from the best side of it. Have a nice day!
Heyyy Mike,
I don’t know one eighth as much as you about photography but I love these shots! The colors are so crisp and deep. In the first shot, Gord’s eyes, skin and texture is striking and I love seeing the intricacies of the concrete behind his head. The buildings. . .WOW! I love urban shots, love them. I dig how the clouds are sketched over the top sort of.
Just such a pleasure to see your work, always, always.
I’m sorry I haven’t been in touch too much but let me say – I miss you but I always know where to find you here among your beautiful work!! :)
Wishing you a peaceful and joyous weekend, my friend ~
Allison

I have a great deal to catch up on, but it’ll be worth it :)
