Winnipeg Street: Lesley
I met Lesley as I made my way home after a photo walk. At first I wasn’t sure if he would be willing to have his photo taken but went ahead and pointed my camera at him. He smiled and allowed me to take the two images you see below. Although he was a bit difficult to understand, I was able to get a brief story from him. He used to be a teacher for First Nations but hadn’t taught in many years. He was originally from Gods Lake Narrows, a fairly remote community almost 600km from Winnipeg. He was out for a walk and was happy the weather had become nicer so he didn’t have to spend so much time indoors.
Lovely~ I so wish I was better at photographing ppl
Thanks! :) Well, I’m still learning as well. Never ending I suppose :)
These two images goes straight into my heart.
Thank you Malin. I feel he had a lot of interesting stories to tell.
Great portraits!!
Thank you Jos!
Great portrait,
Cheers, Guy!
Something about his nose just begs a story … this is one marvelous, why aren’t you in New York, photo ! WOW
Thanks! Yeah, his nose was certainly an interesting aspect of his face, and although I was curious, I thought it best to leave it be. Ha, NY would be a street photography / portraiture paradise.
I have literally seen everything in New York, such as a man next to me on the Subway wearing an entirely foil outfit, a woman naked save for her raincoat, a man with a pointed red hat on with a metal spike … so that “they would know how to come and bring him home.” That’s just the tip of the iceberg! Come for a a visit. The welcome matt is out.
Wow, these are two great photos of a happy soul. I love his devilish sort of smile, he looks like he could be gentle and witty :) And I’m with him about the weather – just sat in the sun on my back porch and it was HEAVENLY!!!
Peace, friend ~ Allison
Why didn’t I reply sooner!? I’m such a slacker sometimes! I couldn’t describe his smile any better way, Allison! Devilish indeed! Well, some more time spent indoors this weekend, as yet another snowfall and temperature dipping down to -18C over night. Oh joy! :)
You are no slacker, this I know for sure :) Take all the time you need don’t even sweat it. More snow, really??
Put the tea kettle on and enjoy every peaceful, creative moment, Mike :)

That’s an interesting smile indeed
Cheers, Marcus!
